The Landmarks Preservation Commission voted last week in favor of formally considering creating a historic district in DUMBO. If the initiative gets approved by the commissioners in a vote later this year, 55 buildings in the roughly 15-square-block area will be granted landmark status which would strictly limit alterations to the existing buildings and the type and style of any new proposed developments.
