The Met Life Building - View from Above

Central Midtown. The Met Life Buildings (200 Park Avenue) is seen here from the observation deck of the Empire State Building. Built in 1963 to much dismay of more than a few influential New Yorkers, the building was initially called the "Pan Am Building" - after its principal tenant, Pan American World Airways. For better or worse, the latter went bust in 1992 and the building was acquired by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Hence the present name.
