Local Merchants Protest Willets Point Dev Plan

Local business owners are up in arms against the proposed Willets Point redevelopment plan, reports NY Daily News.

The plan, which envisages creating a retail and entertainment complex, a hotel and convention center, several thousand residential units and new public open spaces in place of current auto repair shops and scrap yards. The workers and business owners object to the impeding loss of up to 250 businesses and 3,000 jobs in the sector.
