H & H: Escape from Bagel Mediocrity

Although opinions on what consitutes a good bagel can diverge to the point of absolute mutual exclusivity, sometimes the invisible hand of the market settles the argument in a crude but convincing manner. If you have a bagel shop, you either stay in business or you don't. At least, such was the conundrum faced by countless Upper West Side bagelries who... well, didn't.

H&H at West 80th is obviously a survivor, since customers have been flocking there since 1972 if a recent [article] in the New York Times is to be believed.. The draw? Bagels that are “like no other bagel in the world.”
