LOCATION

North-Western Bronx. The neighborhood is centered around Broadway. Kingsbridge's northern border is Van Cortland Park South, western - Irwin Avenue, eastern - Goulden Avenue, southern - West 225th street.

CHARACTER AND FEEL

Kingsbridge has been often described as the working-class cousin of (more affluent) Riverdale, which is just west of Kingsbridge.

Van Cortland Park, located at the northern end of the neighborhood is the third largest park in New York City (after Manhattan's Central Park and Brooklyn's Prospect Park)

Around Broadway, most buildings are rental apartment buildings, but in other areas private houses are more common. The rents in the neighborhood have been described as "affordable".

NAME

The name "Kingsbridge" comes from the name of the first footbridge connecting Manhattan and the Bronx.

ACCESS & TRANSIT

Kingsbridge is served by the number 1 subway line. For drivers, there are two nearby highways - Major Deegan Expressway and Henry Hudson Parkway.
