South-East Bronx. The neighborhood is served by the 43rd precinct.

CHARACTER AND FEEL

Castle Hill is home to many housing projects built in the 1960's. Among them: Castle Hill Houses (a 14-building complex) which contain 2,025 apartment units and Jamie Towers (a 4-building complex) with 618 units.

NAME

The name "Castle Hill" is due to the shape of a small hill in the neighborhood that led one of the early European explorers (Captain Adriaen Block) to describe it as a "castle".

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

The neighborhood's proximity to La Guardia Airport has led to complaints of blue ice and air- and noise- pollution.
